Israel is trying to push Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to agree to absorb refugees from the Gaza Strip into Egypt, in exchange for writing off Egypt's debts to the World Bank. In this context, the Prime Minister recently went to international leaders and asked them to convince President Sisi of the idea, because it is the best solution. Another idea was also proposed: evacuating the wounded Palestinians by ship, and establishing a field hospital in Egypt.

Two weeks ago, President Sisi announced his strong opposition to the transfer of Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip to Sinai, and warned that such a step would turn Sinai into a source of attacks against Israel, and Egypt would turn into a base for “terrorist” operations.
