For its part, Palestinian television said that Internet and communications services were cut off in areas north of the Gaza Strip.

Telephone and Internet services gradually returned to various areas of the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Sunday morning, after stopping almost completely since Friday.

An American official told the Washington Post that Israel restored internet and communications services in the Gaza Strip under American pressure. The American official said, "After communications were cut off on Friday, the United States put pressure on the Israeli government to restart them."
