Ukraine: $150 billion infrastructure losses due to war
The ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict has caused direct damage estimated at US$151.2 billion to Ukraine's infrastructure as of September this year, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported on Wednesday, citing a recent study.
According to a study conducted by the Kyiv School of Economics, the housing sector was most affected by the conflict, as approximately 167,200 private homes and residential buildings were destroyed or vandalized by the hostilities.
The study added that since the start of the confrontation between the Russian and Ukrainian sides, 18 civilian airports and airstrips have been damaged, in addition to 344 bridges and overpasses in Ukraine, and at least 426 large and medium-sized companies have been affected.
