International Atomic Energy Agency raises status of the state of Palestine
On Thursday, the International Atomic Energy Agency raised the status of Palestine in the agency, approved its designation, and granted it more privileges and rights.
This came at the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The resolution received a majority vote of (92) countries, with (21) countries abstaining from voting and only (5) countries opposed.
The majority of the Arab countries, the Group of 77, China and Turkey sponsored the resolution, and the Arab Republic of Egypt submitted the draft resolution on behalf of the sponsoring countries.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decision, stressing that it is continuing to work to confirm not only the name of the State of Palestine, but also all the privileges due to reach full membership in the aforementioned agency.
