First in months...Abbas receives a phone call from Blinken before his delegation heads to Saudi Arabia
Today, Monday, President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during which they reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the call, President Abbas stressed that what the Israeli occupation authorities, forces and settlers are doing, who practice terrorism, contributes to undermining the two-state solution and destroys all chances of achieving peace, calling on the US administration to accept the endeavor of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations by a decision of the Security Council. , ending all sanctions imposed on the Palestinians due to US laws, and building normal relations between the US administration and the State of Palestine, including reopening the US consulate in Jerusalem and an office for Palestine in Washington, and restoring the direct aid program.
On the other hand, President Mahmoud Abbas stressed the need to compel the Israeli occupation authorities to stop all their aggressive practices and unilateral Israeli actions, to abide by the signed agreements, and to focus on the political horizon.
President Abbas affirmed that the State of Palestine will continue its endeavor at the level of the United Nations in order to obtain full membership in the United Nations, and to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative, by ending the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine with its capital, East Jerusalem, on the 1967 borders.
