Five Palestinians detainees continue to hunger strike

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club said that five detainees will continue with their open-ended hunger strike in the Israeli occupation prisons to reject their detention without trial.

Four of the prisoners – Saif Qassem Hamdan, Osama Maher Khalil, Qusay Jamal Khader, and Saleh Raafat Rabaya – have been on strike for nine days.  Kayed Al-Fasfous, meanwhile, has been on hunger strike for five days.

Also on Monday, an Israeli court rejected a petition for the early release of Walid Daqqa, based on his deteriorating health condition.

Daqqa has served 38 years in Israeli prison over the alleged involvement in the killing of a soldier in the 1980s.

He was diagnosed with leukaemia ten years ago, and numerous appeals to secure an early release have been rejected.
