Six Israeli settlers wounded in shooting attack in occupied West Bank
Six Israeli settlers were wounded on Tuesday in a shooting attack inside the West Bank settlement of Ma'ale Adumim, east of occupied Jerusalem. The Palestinian assailant was killed.
According to Israeli media, two of the wounded are in a serious condition.
The perpetrator was identified as Muhannad al-Mazra'a, 20, from the town of al-Eizariya, and reportedly carried out the shooting with an M16 rifle.
Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine praised the attack.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem hailed the "valiant resistance" for taking revenge in the "war against our sanctities and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque."
After the attack, al-Mazra'a's father – who works in the Ma'ale Adumim municipality – was dismissed from his job, while the two brothers were detained in their homes on Tuesday.
