Palestinian President Abbas to meet Erdogan today
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Tuesday as part of an official three-day visit.
The diplomatic adviser to President Majdi Al-Khalidi said that "important talks" with occur between the two leaders, ahead of a joint press conference. On the agenda, Al-Khalidi explained, will be the bilateral ties between the countries, international protection and mobilization for the Palestinian people, and other regional and international issues of common interest.
He stressed the importance of private sector cooperation as well, especially in regard to the industrial zone being developed in Jenin.
Al-Khalidi also revealed that President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, at the end of July. The meetings, he said, are intended to "fortify the Palestinian and Arab front, and the friends of our people, in the face of the fascism and racism of the occupying state, and to work as an international front under the umbrella of the United Nations in order to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine."
