Herzog heads to Washington to meet Biden, and Netanyahu reprimands his ambassador

Late Monday evening, Israeli President Isaac Herzog will head to Washington for a several-day visit, during which he will meet his US counterpart, Joe Biden.

Herzog is scheduled to address the US Congress after receiving an invitation from Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.

This is Herzog's second visit to the United States in two years, since he assumed the Israeli presidency.

It is expected that Herzog and Biden will discuss a range of political, security and economic issues in their meeting.

Herzog's visit to the White House comes at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been waiting for a similar invitation since assuming his new position about 7 months ago.

In the context, the Hebrew Channel 13 reported, yesterday evening, that Netanyahu held a conversation last week, during which he rebuked the Israeli ambassador to the United States, Mike Herzog, who is the brother of the Israeli president.

Netanyahu accused Ambassador Herzog of not doing enough to invite him to the White House, while his ambassador indicated that he had been seeking for months to set a date, but had not received any answers from the US administration.

According to the Hebrew channel, the conversation was sharp and charged.
