Eight Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in one of the largest-scale military operations by the Israeli military in recent years on the West Bank city of Jenin on Sunday overnight.

Fifty Palestinians were wounded, 10 of whom are in a serious condition, and 20 others were arrested.

After midnight, the Israeli military launched several drone strikes that targeted different locations across the city. Many explosions were heard inside and near to Jenin refugee camp. 

An incursion from ground troops came soon after, and the Israeli army later said that it had launched a raid on a building used as a "command center" by armed cells in Jenin. It added that operation will continue as long as needed.

During their operation, the Israeli army also deliberately damaged the camp's infrastructure and destroyed institutions, headquarters, and others. They also targeted many homes and mosques with air strikes and guided missiles.
