Revealing new failures in the operation of the martyr Uday al-Tamimi

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz, published on Monday, revealed that it had obtained documents showing more failures and leadership and operational failures in dealing with the martyr Uday al-Tamimi when he carried out a shooting attack at the Shuafat checkpoint in October of last year.

The operation resulted in the dismissal of three members of the so-called "Border Police" after accusing them of having preferred not to enter into a clash with the martyr Tamimi, and not to act according to the instructions.

Al-Tamimi arrived at the checkpoint from the direction of Shuafat, and fired from a very short distance, killing a female soldier and seriously wounding a security guard. At that time, Al-Tamimi managed to escape to the camp, and none of the soldiers fired at him, which raised many questions about the behavior and behavior of the soldiers.

The newspaper says that whoever was chosen to investigate the incident, who is the commander of the region, should have examined his leadership behavior.

According to the documents obtained by the newspaper, it was found that the security guard who was at a nearby guard post recognized the martyr al-Tamimi and tried to shoot him, but he failed due to the fact that the window of the point was broken and that although the soldiers asked their commander to restore it, this was ignored.

The documents show that there is a state of failure and a major failure in the method of deployment of the soldiers as well as the infrastructure of the place to deal with the Palestinians, and that the commander of the checkpoint ignored these matters and the repeated demands of the soldiers.

During the investigations, the checkpoint commander said that it was not possible to prevent the attack due to lack of prior intelligence.

And the documents considered that there was another failure to allow Palestinians to exit their vehicles to prove their identities, which allowed Tamimi to get out of the vehicle and open fire.

It turned out that a group of Israeli soldiers were present at the site, and they were not involved in the investigation and their statements were heard.

Former police officers criticized the district commander for conducting the investigation himself, even though he was responsible for what happened. The Israeli police responded to the report by saying that the investigation was conducted in a transparent manner and lessons were learned.
