Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will head to China in the middle of June for a visit that will last for several days, according to Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO Hussein Al-Sheikh.

Al-Sheikh indicated that discussions will be held on issues and developments in the Middle East, as well as expanding Palestinian-Chinese relations.

Beijing has sought a more proactive role in recent years in the Middle East, and has offered to facilitate peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
