Hamas victory and credibility

In the Universities of An-Najah and Birzeit, the "Hamas" movement achieved the victory of its student organization in the elections of the student councils of the two Palestinian universities, thus taking precedence over the "Fatah" movement, its main competitor.

Ismail Haniyeh, head of its political bureau, described this success as "an extension of the movement's balanced presence at various levels and areas," stressing "his movement's adherence to the general presidential and legislative elections for the Authority, and the elections for the National Council of the PLO, and its willingness to hold student elections in all Gaza universities," calling on all Palestinians to Engage in the necessary arrangements for its conduct.

Ismail Haniyeh and the rest of the leaders of the "Hamas" movement have the right to brag about their electoral or political results and successes, or any form of political and organizational presence. They deserve this as a reflection of the Palestinian popular biases towards what the "Hamas" movement represents.

It is clear that the victory of the "Hamas" movement and the tangible successes it achieved in the Legislative Council elections, and what it obtained with the parliamentary majority, qualified it to assume the presidency of the Legislative Council, Abdulaziz Dweik, and to form the government headed by Ismail Haniyeh himself, and this was done under the leadership and management of the head of the Fatah movement, President The Palestinian Authority, the head of the Liberation Organization, and now, "Hamas" has achieved victory among the student councils of An-Najah and Birzeit Universities over the "Fatah" movement under the "Fatah" movement's administration of the Authority in Ramallah, which means and confirms despite all the observations that can be made on this matter. The movement and its monopoly on power and the leadership of the Liberation Organization, that it has a wide margin of commitment to pluralism and respect for the results of the ballot boxes, whether it was public mass, as happened to it in the Legislative Council elections, or student elections, as happened in the elections for the two universities’ councils: An-Najah and Birzeit.

However, when moving on to talk about what is happening in the Gaza Strip, the monopoly, exclusivity, and domination characterize Hamas. It monopolizes power and does not allow, work, or call for elections for two reasons. The first is because it does not believe in elections and does not work for them as long as they control the decision and the power to make decisions. Its people, which it ruled with authoritarianism, exclusivity, and unilateralism, and it and its administration annoy the people of the Gaza Strip and push young people to flee the Strip by taking the path of adventures and escaping through the sea, or towards the 48 areas, or towards Egypt, escaping from hunger, poverty, and the results of what resulted from its “military option” decision to seize the sole power From June 2007 until today.

The "Fatah" movement, despite all the observations that can be made about its management, policies, and actions, but it submits to the values of pluralism and the results of the ballot boxes, even if the "Hamas" movement wins against and confronts it, while the "Hamas" movement deprives the people of the Strip from any form of student elections. Or trade union or municipality, instead of presenting the Gaza Strip as a model for its people and in front of the world, not to be a copy similar to the Taliban movement in Afghanistan, or beg others in the areas of control of organizations of one color, the leadership organization and excessive unilateralism.

The credibility of what Ismail Haniyeh said or his denial is revealed if a decision is issued to hold elections for the Gaza university students’ councils, or if the arguments for their absence remain, as is the case since Hamas’s unilateral control of the Gaza Strip since 2007 until now.
