Israel sends sick PFLP detainee, Walid Daqa, back to prison
Ramallah – Israel Prison Service returned Palestinian prisoner Walid Daqa, who is being treated for cancer, from Assaf Harofeh Hospital to the clinic in Ramle Prison on Thursday.
The family described the step as "surprising and reprehensible," explaining that Daqa had been under close medical inspection in the last three days due to complications from a recent resection operation on his right lung.
Daqa, who holds Israeli citizenship, was convicted of membership in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) cell that abducted and murdered the Israeli soldier Moshe Tamam in 1984. He has always denied that he participated in either the kidnapping or the murder.
The family is demanding his immediate release in order for him to receive adequate treatment, adding that they hold the Israel Prison Service "fully responsible for his life."
