An-Najah University wins the first awards of the Palestine Creative Packaging Design Competition

An-Najah National University won the first prize at the professional level, and the first and second prizes at the student level, in the Palestine First Creative Packaging Design Competition 2022-2023.


This competition is being held for the first time in Palestine, organized by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Prosperity, with the participation of 115 contestants from the northern and southern governorates, the Gaza Strip and the diaspora.


The results were announced during a ceremony held by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Prosperity and the Palestinian Federation for Paper and Packaging Industries in the city of Jericho, where the names of the winners of the competition were announced in the presence of the Ambassador of Japan to the State of Palestine, Yuichi Nakashima, and the Special Representative of the Director of the United Nations Development Program / Assistance Program The Palestinian people, Yvonne Healy, as well as high-level personalities from various institutions.


Students from the Faculties of Fine Arts, Engineering and Information Technology from An-Najah University participated in the competition. In the professional category, Masa Jabi from the Applied Arts Department won the first place, for designing creative packaging for the Nabulsi soap with an attractive shape.


The team, which included the student Rawand Jamlan, an Indian from the Department of Energy and Environmental Engineering, and the student Ahmed Assaf from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, won first place in the student category, for their design of a distinctive olive oil canister inspired by the shape of an olive tree branch that can be reused. In the same category, the student Sujood won Pole from the Department of Applied Arts won the second place for its attractive packaging design.


And bless A.D. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah University, made this achievement for the university students and the colleagues who supervised them. He expressed his pride in the participating and winning designs, which reflect the technical and qualitative skills and capabilities of the students. He thanked the sponsors and supervisors for hosting this competition and identifying the talents of Palestinian designers and giving them the opportunity to show their talents.


During the ceremony announcing the results, the chairman of the arbitration committee, M. Ayman Sobeih said that this award comes in recognition of the importance of the role of young men and women in the packaging and design sector, and a tool for nurturing the distinguished, and taking advantage of their creative ideas, to develop the packaging of various Palestinian products in the local and international market and raise their level, quality and competitiveness.


The Palestinian Center for Business Development and Prosperity also announced the adoption, implementation and networking of the winning designs with target markets, and their participation in regional and international competitions.


The students of the College of Arts were supervised by Dr. Hani Al-Fran, Head of the Applied Arts Department, and Prof. Sawsan Qaneer.


It is noteworthy that the competition is organized by the Palestinian Center for Business Development and Prosperity (PALPRO), with the support of the Investment Promotion and Industrial Cities Authority and the United Nations Development Program / Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP), with funding from the Japanese government, and in partnership with the Small Enterprises Center and the Palestinian Federation of Paper Industries. and packaging, the Palestinian Center for Packaging and Packaging, and the General Federation of Palestinian Industries.
