Chinese BYD plans to sell new energy vehicles in Israel

JERUSALEM (Xinhua) -- Leading Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD is set to sell NEVs in Israel later this year, jointly with Israeli auto dealer Shlomo Motors, the two companies announced separately ( Tuesday).

BYD said in a statement that the first shipment of sedans manufactured by the company is scheduled to arrive in the southern Israeli port of Eilat in the third quarter of 2022.

Starting in September, Shlomo will open four new showrooms for consumers to experience BYD's latest models, according to a statement from Shlomo.

BYD and Shlomo's partnership spans more than a decade, and was established through BYD's electric bus deals.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Shenzhen, BYD adopts core technology developed focusing on safety blade batteries.

In addition, BYD's E-Platform 3.0 technology provides a platform for cloud-based applications and increases the thermal efficiency of the batteries to enable driving ranges in excess of 1,000 km.

The two companies have yet to specify which BYD models will be offered in Israel.
