The condition of an 83-year-old woman who was pulled by Chinese and Turkish rescuers from the earthquake ruins in Malatya, Turkey, is stable.
MALATEYA, Turkey - (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Turkish rescuers rescued an 83-year-old woman from the rubble of the earthquake in Malatya, southern Turkey, on Saturday, and her condition was confirmed in hospital.
A Turkish rescue team and the "Blue Sky Rescue" team, a search and rescue organization from Chongqing, southwestern China, cooperated in retrieving and rescuing the woman, about 125 hours after the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey last Monday.
Yang Yi, a member of the Chinese rescue team, said the survivor remained under the rubble of a seven-storey building without water or food until she was rescued.
This survivor is the third person to be rescued by the Chinese rescue team after two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on Monday. Tens of thousands of people were killed or injured by these devastating earthquakes.
