Ukraine announces the discovery of the buried bodies of dozens of civilians in the recaptured towns of Donetsk
Kiev ( Ukraine ) (AFP) - The Ukrainian Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday that 78 bodies of civilians had been found buried in two towns recently recaptured by Ukrainian forces in Donetsk, in the east of the country.
The Public Prosecution's statement indicated that "many graves were found in the liberated cities of Svyatogersk and Liman," pointing out that 34 bodies were found buried in Svyatogorsk and 44 in Liman.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that some of the bodies found in Svyatogersk bore traces of "violent death", and the charred remains of two people were found in a car.
In Liman, about 110 graves were found, of which 44 bodies were immediately exhumed, including the body of "a one-year-old child and his entire family."
Ukraine accuses the Russian forces of committing many violations, as it discovers, after the withdrawal of these forces, the graves of civilians who were killed or victims of torture and extrajudicial executions.
Russia denies the accusations.
