Al-Kazemi: We are going to the Saudi summit to discuss water, climate and energy files

Baghdad - (dpa) - Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al -Kazemi said today, Thursday, that we are going to the summit conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we are focusing on the water and climate change file, and partnership on the issue of energy and electrical interconnection, as well as economic partnerships and joint investments.

Al-Kazemi added, during his meeting with a number of journalists and media professionals, that all the files contain "good for the Iraqi people, and great support for investment projects in Iraq. Cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, and the challenges produced by the Corona pandemic, the food security crisis, as well as climate variables will also be discussed."

Al-Kazemi said that any other conversations about the goals of the summit "are an attempt to confuse, and have no validity at all, and it is an attempt to distance Iraq from the prominent role it plays in the region, and for this government to carry out its tasks in serving the people, and bringing investments and support for the benefit of Iraq."

And the Iraqi Prime Minister renewed, "Iraq's position on the Palestinian issue, and that it is firm and clear, and we are not within any axis or alliance in the region, and Iraq maintains its balanced policy with its neighbors and surroundings, based on its national and humanitarian principles."

He said, "This government came in a difficult economic situation and we passed it, and economic indicators from the World Bank confirm that Iraq succeeded in a very short time in crossing this crisis, and we presented a vision for economic reform represented by the white paper."

He explained, "Iraq today is one of the countries most affected by climate change, and we need the help of others, and for this we have taken a decision to cooperate with our brothers and friends in overcoming these challenges."

It is expected that the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, will leave Baghdad tomorrow to participate in the Saudi conference, in the presence of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan, in addition to the United States of America, at the official invitation of the Saudi leadership.
