Human Rights Watch: New Israeli measures against foreigners exacerbate the isolation of Palestinians
Jerusalem - "Jerusalem" dot com - Human Rights Watch said that the new Israeli measures regarding the entry of foreigners into the West Bank threaten to exacerbate the separation of Palestinians from global civil society.
Today, Monday, Human Rights Watch issued its report entitled "The West Bank: New Entry Procedures Exacerbate the Isolation of Palestinians," referring to the difficulties that 13 people faced for years in entering the West Bank, and their concerns about the impact of the new instructions on them.
The report indicated that these procedures, which entered into force in October 2022 and were amended in December 2022, specify detailed procedures for the entry and residence of foreigners into the West Bank, a process that differs from the procedures for entering Israel.
"Israel is making it more difficult to spend time in the West Bank, and in so doing it is taking more steps to make the West Bank like Gaza, where two million Palestinians have lived virtually cut off from the outside world for more than a year," said Eric Goldstein, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch. 15 years.
Goldstein added that this policy was designed to weaken the social, cultural, and intellectual ties that the Palestinians are trying to maintain with the outside world.
In July 2022, the Israeli authorities refused to grant Omar Shaker, Director of Israel and Palestine Affairs at Human Rights Watch, a permit to enter the West Bank for a week, in order to conduct research and advocacy meetings.
The organization referred to the broad authority possessed by the occupation army to enter.
