A drone attack on the headquarters of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea
Moscow - (AFP) - Today, Saturday, an attack targeted the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the Sebastopol region, without leaving any casualties, according to the governor of the Crimean city, Mikhail Razvozgaev.
"The drone was hit over the headquarters of the fleet, fell on the roof and caught fire," Razvozgaev said in a message via Telegram.
The accident did not cause "extreme damage" or injuries, according to what the governor said, holding the Ukrainian forces responsible for the operation.
This attack is the second targeting the headquarters of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea in Sebastopol in less than a month.
On July 31, a drone targeted the headquarters of the Russian fleet, wounding five workers in the place, and all the celebrations scheduled for that day were cancelled.
Ukraine denied its involvement in the attack after Russia held it responsible, considering the Russian accusations "provocative".
The attack coincided with repeated explosions and other attacks targeting Russian military infrastructure in Crimea.
On Thursday night, Russian boats shot down a drone near a drone runway in Sebastopol.
And the explosions took place on Tuesday at a military base and a warehouse containing explosives in Crimea, which Russia described as an act of "sabotage".
In early August, an explosive material intended for the Air Force exploded near a military airstrip in Saki, Crimea, leaving many dead and many wounded.
The governor of the peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov, confirmed that the air defense system was put into operation on Saturday in Evpatoria, in the west.
He explained at the time on the Telegram application that the accident "did not cause any damage or injuries."
In addition, Konstantin Ivashchenko, who was appointed by pro-Russian forces as mayor of the coastal city of Mariupol (southeastern Ukraine), was subjected to an assassination attempt on Saturday, according to Russian news agencies.
The RIA Novosti news agency, quoting a police source, said that an explosion occurred while he was driving his car on a road in front of the municipal zoo. The source confirmed that Ivashchenko "was not hurt."
In the early days of its attack on Ukraine, Russia took control of part of the south of the country, especially the Kherson region, not far from Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
