The Journalists Syndicate condemns the settlers' abuse of the martyr Abu Aqleh
Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Journalists Syndicate condemned today, Monday, the settlers' attack on the press crews in the occupied city of Jerusalem, during their coverage of the events of the "March of the Flags" yesterday, and some of them verbally abused the martyred journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh.
The Syndicate said, in a press statement, that the settlers, under the protection of the occupation forces, deliberately assaulted a number of journalists physically and verbally, and some made racist expressions, and stole their mobile phones.
The Syndicate considered that the approach of targeting journalists is rooted in the mentality of the occupation and settlers alike, and this was evident from the assault and abuse of journalists, and from the expressions made by settlers expressing their joy at the martyrdom of colleague Sherine Abu Aqleh.
The Syndicate renewed its call for international institutions to provide field protection for Palestinian journalists who have become targets of the occupation forces and settlers, without accountability or supervision.
In her statement, she indicated that settler attacks on each of fellow journalists were documented: Layal Eid, Najwan Al-Samri, Lana Kamela, and Ahmed Jaber, and the theft of two mobile phones of colleagues Maysa Abu Ghazaleh and Heba Al-Najdi.
