The Russian ambassador calls on Washington to stop the "hostile" overflights after the march incident

The Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, called on Washington , Wednesday, to stop "hostile" overflights near the Russian border, after Russian pursuit planes intercepted American drones in the Black Sea.

"We proceed from the principle that the United States will refrain from making subsequent speculations through the media and will stop overflights near the Russian borders," Antonov said in a statement via Telegram.

On Tuesday, a Russian fighter dropped fuel on an American drone that was flying over the Black Sea and shocked it, which led to its crash, according to what the US military said, describing what happened as "reckless."

The European Command in the US Army said that two Sukhoi fighters (Su-27) intercepted the march "M-Q-9 Reaper" over international waters, and one of them hit its propeller.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that it had sent fighter jets after spotting an American drone over the Black Sea, but denied that it had caused its crash.

It explained that it had spotted the march "over the waters of the Black Sea in the Crimea region" and heading "towards the borders of the Russian state."
