Gaza Health: Death toll exceeds 73,000 since the start of the aggression

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, in an urgent statistical statement, revealed the continuous increase in the number of victims of the ongoing Israeli aggression for more than a year. Medical sources clarified that the cumulative toll of officially registered martyrs in the ministry's records has jumped to record levels, reflecting the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe that has befallen the Strip. These figures come amid extremely complex health conditions experienced by hospitals that are still operating with minimal capabilities.

According to the latest statistical report, the total number of martyrs since October 7, 2023, has reached approximately 73,090 martyrs, whose data has been documented by the competent authorities. The ministry also indicated that the number of injured has reached 173,553 people, many of whom suffer from severe injuries and amputations that require advanced surgical intervention not currently sufficiently available within the besieged Strip.

Regarding field developments over the past two days, medical sources reported the arrival of 16 martyrs at various hospitals in the Strip during the last forty-eight hours. These deaths coincided with the registration of 16 new injuries and cases of varying severity, indicating the continued flow of victims to health centers despite the decrease in the intensity of direct military operations in some areas.

The statement detailed the period following the announcement of the ceasefire on October 11, where the ministry recorded shocking figures reflecting the repercussions of previous injuries and field violations. The total number of martyrs who have fallen since that date reached 1,066 martyrs, which confirms that the blood toll is still open despite the relative calm that was hoped for from the agreement.

Regarding injuries during the same period, statistics showed that 3,445 injured people have been registered since October 11, with the causes of injuries varying between direct targeting or health complications resulting from a lack of medicine. Medical teams face enormous challenges in dealing with these cases amid the destruction of health infrastructure and a large number of hospitals being completely or partially out of service.

In a related context, rescue and civil defense teams continue their strenuous efforts to search for the missing under the rubble of homes and buildings destroyed by air raids. The Ministry of Health confirmed that the total number of bodies recovered from under the rubble since the ceasefire came into effect reached 797, who were transferred to hospitals to complete burial procedures and official documentation within national records.

Sources stressed that these figures represent only the cases that medical teams were able to reach and document inside hospitals, while thousands of people are still missing. Officials in Gaza suggest that the actual number of martyrs may be much higher than announced, due to the presence of bodies in inaccessible areas or under the rubble of residential neighborhoods that have been completely razed to the ground.

The Ministry of Health concluded its statement by emphasizing the need for urgent international intervention to save the dilapidated health system and provide essential medical supplies for thousands of injured. The ministry warned that the continued siege and prevention of fuel and medical equipment entry will inevitably lead to an additional increase in the number of deaths among the injured who face the risk of death daily due to the lack of necessary healthcare.

The cumulative death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,090 martyrs in our official records.
