Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of widespread raids in various areas of the occupied West Bank early Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of at least 20 Palestinian citizens. Human rights sources confirmed that among those arrested were five women, as part of an ongoing escalation targeting various Palestinian social groups.
The arrest campaign included journalist Hassan Abdel Jawad from Bethlehem, raising the number of journalists held in occupation prisons to 42. This step comes amid systematic restrictions on journalistic work and attempts to obscure the Palestinian narrative of ongoing field violations.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society clarified that these daily incursions fall under the policy of 'collective punishment' pursued by the occupation authorities against civilians. The society noted that arrest operations are usually accompanied by property destruction and intimidation of residents in targeted cities and camps.
Palestinian women face increasing targeting, with human rights reports documenting the arrest of more than 765 women since last October, including minors and elderly women. Detained women are subjected to harsh interrogation conditions, and in some cases, they are held hostage to pressure their family members to surrender.
In a shocking statistic, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society estimated that the total number of Palestinian detainees since the start of the genocide war on October 7 has reached approximately 24,000. These figures reflect the unprecedented scale of the offensive launched by the occupation army in parallel with ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip.
On the ground, occupation bulldozers closed all entrances to Sinjil town, located north of Ramallah, with earth mounds and stone barriers. These measures aim to completely isolate the town from neighboring villages and towns, leading to a near-total halt in traffic to and from the area.
Moataz Abdel Rahman, mayor of Sinjil, stated that the occupation closed 6 main entrances and 16 secondary and agricultural roads that were used as an outlet for residents. Abdel Rahman confirmed that this siege hinders patients' access to hospitals and prevents students and workers from reaching their workplaces and studies.
The West Bank is experiencing a state of severe tension amid continued settler and occupation army attacks that have led to the martyrdom of 1,173 Palestinians since October 2025. These attacks coincide with tightened military restrictions at checkpoints and the deployment of more security points that sever the Palestinian geography.
Closure measures exacerbate the suffering of citizens and impede the movement of patients, students, and workers, affecting various aspects of daily life.
