Chairman of the Break the Siege Committee to "Arab21": The Resilience Fleet is the largest movement against the Gaza blockade since the "Mavi Marm

Zaher Birawi, the head of the International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza and a member of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, confirmed that the ongoing 'Resilience Flotilla' represents the largest maritime attempt to break the siege on Gaza since the 'Mavi Marmara' events in 2010, emphasizing that free peoples have now taken on the responsibility of confronting the ongoing genocide in the sector amid the failure and silence of Arab and international officials.

Birawi said in a special interview: 'We are placing this movement in its correct context... Gaza is experiencing genocide, bombardment, killing, and displacement, while the regimes are either complicit with the occupation or incapable of confronting it. Therefore, Gaza has no one left but the peoples who are moving by all possible means, from demonstrations and popular events to attempts to break the maritime siege.'

Birawi explained that their plan for 2025 relies on launching successive ships to exert pressure on the occupation, starting with the 'Al-Dhamir' ship last May from Libya, which was subjected to Israeli bombardment off the coast of Malta. This was followed by the 'Madeleine' ship last June with the participation of prominent figures such as Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and Brazilian activist Thiago Avila, before being detained by Israeli occupation forces.
