Witkoff visited Gaza at an event organized by the Israeli army for propaganda purposes.

Steve Witkoff, the U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy for peace and war, made a brief visit to the Gaza Strip on Friday and visited a distribution site for aid run by the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation GHF" under the control of the occupying army and American mercenaries amid the worsening hunger crisis in the region.

More than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza over the past two months while trying to obtain aid, leading to increased international pressure on Israel to alleviate the humanitarian situation.

Witkoff posted a picture on social media of himself and Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, at an aid site overseen by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or G.H.F. This Israel-backed group, managed by American security contractors and facing severe criticism, has controlled a large part of the aid distribution system in Gaza since May.

Witkoff stated in a post on X: "We spent over five hours inside Gaza - clarifying the facts on the ground, assessing the conditions, and meeting with @GHFUpdates and other agencies." The purpose of the visit was to give the President of the United States (@POTUS) a clear understanding of the humanitarian situation and to help devise a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the residents of Gaza, while Huckabee, known for his blind support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said that he and Witkoff received a briefing from the Israeli army and spoke to "people on the ground." It was not immediately clear who he meant.

The Netanyahu government and the Trump administration claim that Hamas is stealing aid, but Israeli military officials recently confirmed to The New York Times that the army has found no evidence that Hamas systematically stole aid from the United Nations, which has provided most of the assistance to Gaza since the war began there nearly two years ago.

Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli occupation forces fired on several occasions at crowds of desperate Palestinians as they approached new aid centers in search of food. The Israeli occupation army has repeatedly stated that its forces fired "warning shots" when people approached them in a threatening manner.

Hamas considered Witkoff's visit, along with Huckabee's, who is close to Netanyahu, to Gaza as nothing more than a "publicity stunt" amid global outrage over the Israeli starvation policy supported by the Trump administration.

As anticipated by Hamas official Ezzat al-Rishq (on social media), Witkoff saw in Gaza only what the occupying authorities wanted him to see.

In an unusual break with Israeli leaders, Trump acknowledged this week the existence of famine in Gaza after largely distorting the subject, stating that there is an urgent need for more food, but in other remarks, he showed that his relationship with Netanyahu is solid and will not change.

The United Nations Office of Human Rights announced that at least 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while seeking food in Gaza since May 27. This includes 859 people killed in areas surrounding G.H.F. sites and 514 others on the roads used by aid trucks.

It added that the Israeli army is responsible for the deaths of most of the individuals.

While the Human Rights Office acknowledged the presence of "other armed elements" in the same areas where the killings occurred, it stated that it has no knowledge of their involvement in acts of violence.

Israeli officials claimed that G.H.F. would largely replace the UN-led aid system, but the group has only managed four distribution sites, mostly in southern Gaza. Earlier in the war, hundreds of aid distribution points were active under the UN-led system.

However, the UN and other international organizations have provided some aid since the humanitarian relief foundation began its operations, bringing supplies by truck to both northern and southern Gaza.

But these efforts have also turned into utter chaos. Most trucks have failed to reach their destinations in Gaza in recent weeks, as they were intercepted by the hungry on their way, often just minutes after entering the region, and seized any aid they could get.

Eyewitnesses reported horrific scenes near the trucks, including people trampling over others and threatening each other with knives.

One UN official who toured Gaza in recent days described a worsening situation, especially for children. Ted Chaiban, UNICEF's Deputy Executive Director, told the newspaper on Friday, after
