The Lebanese National News Agency reported early Thursday that one person was killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting a car in the town of Maaroub in the south of the country.

In a brief statement, it said: "One person was killed and another was injured when an Israeli drone was targeted with a guided missile targeting a car in the town of Ma'aroub."

In a related development, the agency monitored Israeli artillery shelling on Thursday morning, targeting the town of Bahmar al-Shaqif in the Nabatieh Governorate in southern Lebanon.

She pointed out that 6 shells fell at 7:15 a.m. (05:15 GMT) on the Al-Dabash neighborhood in the town of Bahmar Al-Shaqif, as a result of Israeli artillery shelling.

As of 06:30 (GMT), Israel has not commented on the attacks that have hit southern Lebanon since dawn.

Israel continues to target areas in southern Lebanon, claiming they are targeting Hezbollah targets, despite a ceasefire agreement in effect since November 2024.

Last Saturday, Israel escalated its attacks on Lebanon after claiming that one of its settlements in the north had been subjected to a missile attack. Israel claimed the attack originated from the Lebanese side, while Hezbollah denied any connection.

Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon on Saturday killed seven people and injured 40 others, according to statistics compiled by Anadolu Agency based on official Lebanese sources.

Despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect, Israel committed 1,263 violations, leaving at least 100 dead and 331 injured, according to an Anadolu Agency tally based on official Lebanese data.

Israel has reneged on its commitment to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by February 18, contrary to the agreement. Instead, it has implemented a partial withdrawal and continues to occupy five major Lebanese hills, within the areas it occupied during the last war.

It has also recently begun establishing a border strip extending one or two kilometers inside Lebanese territory.
