Sullivan says Gaza deal 'coming soon'

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Monday that there is a possibility of reaching an agreement on Gaza this week.

Bloomberg quoted the US official as saying: "We are trying to have a united front and a coordinated message with the Trump team on the Gaza issue."

Earlier, Sullivan told CNN that reaching an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the hostages held in Gaza was "very close."

He stressed that the US administration is "determined to exploit every day to complete" the deal, indicating that "President Biden receives daily updates on it," expecting that he will soon communicate with the Israeli Prime Minister.

For his part, J.D. Vance, Vice President-elect Donald Trump, said that the Gaza deal will be completed soon, considering that Hamas is "terrified" of Trump's threats if he is inaugurated without making any progress.

“I hope the current administration can achieve this agreement in the final days of its term,” Vance added. “But regardless of the timing, Hamas is terrified of the consequences it may face if Trump takes office.”

He pointed out that Trump's threats pushed the American side to achieve significant progress in the negotiations, stressing that world leaders clearly see the impact of these threats.
