Jordan, Lebanon and Syria were included.. Israeli image angers Jordanians
Maps published by official Israeli accounts on social media over the past two days have sparked anger among Jordanians.
Especially since Israel claimed that it is historical and includes parts of Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Jordanian activists on social media have strongly criticized the maps, considering them to reflect unacceptable Israeli ambitions.
They also stressed their opposition to these allegations that aim to undermine Jordan's sovereignty and the rights of the Palestinians.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry responds
For its part, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these maps in the strongest terms, along with the statements of the extremist Israeli Finance Minister calling for the annexation of the West Bank and the establishment of settlements in Gaza.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Al-Qudah, confirmed in a statement yesterday evening, Tuesday, Amman's absolute rejection of these policies that aim to deny the Palestinians' right to establish their independent state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.
He also stressed that these Israeli allegations and incitements constitute a flagrant violation of international laws, calling for a clear international position condemning these actions and warning of their consequences for the security and stability of the region.
House of Representatives also
In turn, the Jordanian House of Representatives entered the fray, and the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Safadi, confirmed that these maps express a “criminal mentality and malicious ambitions that cannot be ignored or tolerated.”
At the beginning of the parliament session today, Wednesday, Safadi stressed that Jordan knows how to respond to anyone who dares to encroach on its sovereignty. He said: "Jordan was and will remain Arab, and so are Palestine, Syria and Lebanon."
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that the Israeli side has published similar maps. Rather, Israeli officials have raised similar images during several international and UN occasions.
