Oh pulse of the West Bank…

While the aggression on the Gaza Strip continues, and the war of extermination and daily massacres continue, with more than 100 martyrs killed yesterday, Israel has decided to consider the West Bank a main battlefield, and this means deploying more Israeli army brigades and divisions to impose other military measures against the citizens of the West Bank.

Among these measures is what the occupation army radio revealed, that it recently acquired a technological system to deploy in the West Bank, called the “See and Shoot” system. This system contains watchtowers and mechanisms that allow for remote firing, and the army will deploy dozens of them at the entrances to settlements and areas of friction.

This measure and this decision simply mean turning the West Bank into a vast battlefield, to target the largest possible number of the Palestinian people.

The political and security cabinet headed by Netanyahu discussed the situation in the West Bank last Sunday evening, under the pretext of the possibility of internal fighting and tensions erupting, similar to the Syrian scenario, and the fear of a major event that must be prepared for, and the warning of the possibility of the collapse of the Palestinian Authority.

It turns out that these Israeli fears are just wishes to drag the West Bank into an additional war, in preparation for preparing the conditions for imposing sovereignty and annexation of the West Bank. This was revealed directly in public through the statements of the extremist minister Smotrich, who claimed in a letter he sent to Netanyahu last week that there are armed Palestinian groups operating in the West Bank, seeking to carry out a coup against the Palestinian Authority, demanding that this matter be discussed in an emergency session of the Israeli cabinet, which was actually held yesterday.

The deterioration of the situation in the West Bank, including daily raids, arrests, strict measures at Palestinian checkpoints and roads, and assassinations of activists and even civilians, is an inevitable result of the occupation, which is largely based on the provocative statements of the settlers and their extremist leaders who yesterday addressed a letter to the Israeli cabinet, demanding that it repeat the model of northern Gaza in the West Bank, i.e. expelling all residents and citizens from the refugee camps in preparation for campaigns of ethnic cleansing and displacement, to clear the field for Israel and its settlers to impose and extend Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.

It is true that there are fears among the Israeli military establishment about taking such a step, because according to some it seems complicated because the West Bank is different from Gaza, and it is true that the next president of the White House, Donald Trump, sees this step as a mistake and will put Israel in a difficult international situation, but all previous experiences, especially what happened in Gaza and the West Bank so far, Israel did not pay attention to international legitimacy and violated all covenants, pledges and even norms, and carried out whatever killing, isolation and settlement operations it pleased, and accordingly, matters are dangerously likely to target the West Bank, especially its camps, but our Palestinian people, who are full of belonging and armed with dignity, will not accept such steps and measures and will overthrow them with their cohesion, steadfastness and conviction that the Israeli occupation must end sooner or later.
