Meetings with Bogdanov and Hakan.. Hamas discusses ways to reach a ceasefire in Gaza
A delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" discussed with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in the Qatari capital, Doha, ways to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The movement said in a statement that the meeting with Bogdanov addressed "the ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, including genocide, forced displacement, and targeting civilians and infrastructure such as shelters and hospitals."
Searching for ways to reach a ceasefire
The two sides also discussed "ways to reach a permanent ceasefire, mechanisms for dealing with regional developments," and the process of "forming the Palestinian Community Support Committee to manage the Gaza Strip through comprehensive national mechanisms."
According to the statement, the movement's delegation stressed the importance of national unity and strengthening joint Palestinian action.
The discussion touched on "the suffering of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons and the violations they are subjected to, in addition to the frenzied Israeli campaign to displace Palestinians and implement settlement plans."
The Hamas delegation stressed the "need for the international community to urgently engage to stop Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people."
Russia's "firm" position in support of Palestinian rights
In contrast, the statement quoted Bogdanov as stressing "Russia's firm position in support of Palestinian rights," calling for "an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip."
Bogdanov also stressed "the importance of international efforts to find a comprehensive political solution that guarantees the rights of the Palestinian people and puts an end to the ongoing Israeli violations."
The Russian official called on the international community to "take urgent measures to prevent further developments in a catastrophic scenario."
For his part, Fidan, during his meeting with the Hamas delegation, stressed his country's position on the Palestinian issue, pointing to the efforts made by Turkey to move the international community towards the humanitarian catastrophe witnessed in Gaza and to work towards a ceasefire.
After the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, the movement returned to the ceasefire negotiations file in the Gaza Strip again after it had been halted for months.
Currently, Egypt is leading the new contacts to reach a proposal that is acceptable to Hamas and the Israeli occupation at the same time to stop the Gaza war, after the occupation government’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected more than one proposal under various pretexts.
