Yesterday, Oslo Cathedral celebrated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in the presence of King Harald V of Norway, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, and a large number of ambassadors, representatives of political parties and parliamentarians, members of the Palestinian community, and their friends.

In a speech delivered by Norwegian Prime Minister Storey, he affirmed his country's position in support of achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, stressing the importance of respecting human rights and international law.

He said: "Norway stands with the Palestinian people in their aspirations for freedom and dignity, and we will continue to support solutions that promote sustainable peace between peoples, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

For her part, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Norway, Marie Antoinette Sedin, delivered a speech in which she expressed our people’s deep appreciation for this noble solidarity.

She said: "The presence of the King and the leaders of the Norwegian state reflects a strong message that justice, peace and dignity are universal values that must be supported by everyone. This solidarity constitutes a voice to end the occupation, support our people's right to self-determination and establish an independent state."

She noted that this event is the first of its kind to be represented by the highest authorities in Norway, which reflects the depth of solidarity and interest in the Palestinian cause at both the official and popular levels.

The ceremony concluded with inspiring messages of support from the participants, reflecting the Norwegian community’s commitment to standing with the Palestinian people, and calling on the international community to redouble its efforts to achieve justice and freedom.
