The Syrian army's air defenses confronted an Israeli air strike around the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Residents living west of the capital Damascus said, “The Israeli bombardment of the surroundings of the capital Damascus after midnight on Friday/Saturday was the most violent in the past months, as more than 10 explosions were heard, in addition to the sounds of anti-aircraft missiles that shot down a number of Israeli missiles.”

The German News Agency (DPA) quoted eyewitnesses as saying that they “saw a fire breaking out in one of the military sites west of the capital, Damascus.”

For its part, sources close to the Syrian government forces said that the government forces repelled an Israeli attack on sites west of the city of Homs, and also repelled a number of Israeli missiles in the Tartous Governorate on the Syrian coast and a Syrian army site in the countryside of Sweida in southern Syria.

In Daraa Governorate, residents said that they heard the sounds of warplanes flying over areas in southern Syria without carrying out any bombing operations in the governorate.
