3 rockets fired from Lebanon towards "Greater Tel Aviv"
The Israeli army said that three surface-to-surface missiles were launched from Lebanon towards the greater Tel Aviv area, while Hebrew media reported that residents of 180 cities and towns in the center of the country entered shelters, one of whom was injured in Petah Tikva, east of Tel Aviv.
The army said in a statement on its X account on Monday: "Following the alerts that were activated a short while ago in the center of the country, we detected 3 missiles launched from Lebanon."
"All threats are intercepted, and at this time there are no known casualties," the interception claimed.
The army reported that its fighter jets attacked the launch pad from which the missiles were launched, without specifying a location.
For its part, the Israeli Army Radio said that the three missiles launched from Lebanon were "surface-to-surface" missiles.
The Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" said that the missiles that were launched at the greater Tel Aviv area forced the residents of 180 cities and towns to take shelters, without mentioning those towns.
In a related context, the private Channel (12) said that an Israeli El Al passenger plane was about to land at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and changed its course and turned around due to the missiles being fired, without further details.
Shortly before that, sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion, Ramat Gan and dozens of cities and towns in central Israel, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
Until 17:20 GMT, no party has claimed responsibility for launching these missiles.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that an Israeli was "seriously" injured after falling from the roof of a house while sirens sounded in Petah Tikva (east of Tel Aviv).
"A 38-year-old man fell and was seriously injured when he tried to descend from the roof of a house and reach a protected area on Sderra Street in Petah Tikva, at the time the sirens went off," she added.
"The Magen David Adom (Israeli ambulance) team transferred him to Beilinson Hospital in the city," according to the newspaper.
