Israel decides to strike Iran and it is preparing on all fronts
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government would confront "all Iranian threats," holding Tehran responsible for the strikes Israel is facing from Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
Netanyahu stressed that he would continue to fulfill his pledge to change the balance of power on the northern front, adding, "This is what we are doing now."
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced today, Saturday, that the government has decided to launch a "strong and large" attack on Iran, stressing that preparations are being made in coordination with Washington, while the Israeli army has raised the state of alert on all fronts in preparation to respond to the Iranian attack.
"We were subjected to the greatest attack in history and no country can accept that, and that is why we will respond," Netanyahu said.
"Iran is behind all the attacks on us and has attacked us twice with hundreds of ballistic missiles and we will not accept these attacks," he added.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted Israeli security officials as saying that all options are on the table regarding responding to Iran, and they explained that the options include attacking Tehran directly or targeting its interests in the Middle East.
For its part, the Israel Hayom newspaper quoted the Israeli army as saying that "Israel is in a direct confrontation with Iran," stressing the state of alert on all fronts.
She added, quoting the Israeli army, that responding to Iran may not prevent another Iranian attack on Israel, but it will achieve "deterrence," and that the army expects international cooperation that understands the response to Tehran, which gives legitimacy to Israel.
Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari also confirmed in a press conference that the Israeli response to the Iranian missile attack will come at a time that "Israel deems appropriate," as he described it.
Hagari admitted that Iranian missiles hit two air bases, saying that "the air force and the bases are still operating at full capacity."
For his part, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Iran and what he called its agents remain a "permanent threat" to Israel after the Israeli army announced that it was preparing a response to the Iranian attack.
This comes at a time when the commander of the US Central Command arrived in Israel amid its preparations for the attack on Iran, which is expected to take place within the next few days.
Iranian threat
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during his visit to Damascus that "every action has a proportionate and similar reaction from Iran, and perhaps a stronger one," stressing that Tehran will respond forcefully to any Israeli attack.
He added, "The most important issue today is the ceasefire, especially in Lebanon and Gaza," he said.
Tehran had threatened Israel that it would respond by striking its "infrastructure extensively and comprehensively" if it responded to its attack last Tuesday.
Tensions are rising after Tehran launched a massive missile attack on Israel on Tuesday, saying it was in retaliation for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31 in a strike attributed to Israel, and the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli raid on September 27 that also killed a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard official.
