Jordan's King: Regional escalation could drag region into 'all-out war'
Jordan's King Abdullah II warned on Tuesday of the danger of regional escalation in expanding the circle of conflict and dragging the region and the world into a "comprehensive war."
This came during a phone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to a statement by the Royal Court.
The statement said that King Abdullah "warned of the danger of regional escalation, which would expand the circle of conflict and drag the region and the world into a comprehensive war with dire consequences."
He stressed the need for "immediate action by the international community to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon," according to the statement.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army spoke of American warnings reaching Tel Aviv about an imminent Iranian missile attack that might target it, which was also indicated by Hebrew media.
This comes two days after statements by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in which he said that the Americans and Europeans promised Tehran to declare a ceasefire in Gaza if it did not respond to Israel's assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, and that they did not fulfill that promise.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani threatened Israel on Tuesday to respond to its "actions and adventures," during a press conference in which he accused "the United States of supplying Israel with the bombs that it used to bomb the southern suburbs of Beirut and assassinate Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah."
