Israeli occupation is preparing to declare the north the main war front
Channel 14 Israel said that there is a possibility that Israel will soon declare the northern front as the main war front, and this coincides with Hezbollah’s threat to Israel with “just retribution” following the injury of about 3,000 people in the explosion of pager communication devices in Lebanon.
According to the channel, starting tonight, the security and military burden will move from the Gaza Strip to the northern front.
In this regard, the Israeli newspaper "Israel Today" quoted an unnamed security source, who it described as "informed," as saying, "Tensions are very high with Hezbollah and are on the brink of the abyss, and all Israeli citizens may soon be sitting in shelters."
This comes in the wake of pager explosions in Lebanon, which, according to Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad, resulted in the death of 9 people - including a child - and the injury of 2,750, 200 of whom are in critical condition, according to a statement by the ministry, in an incomplete toll, while Hezbollah accused Israel of being behind the explosions and threatened it with "just retribution."
According to a source in the newspaper "Israel Today", "in the last hours, there have been feverish security consultations, with a real possibility of launching a war against Hezbollah."
The same source considered that "the (Israeli) war in Gaza has been exhausted, and the army is currently heading to a campaign in the north."
He explained that "(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu understood that if he did not start a campaign against Hezbollah now, the war could end with an Israeli loss, and for this reason (Netanyahu) began taking all the measures that would lead to the start of this campaign, including overcoming the position of Defense Minister (Yoav) Galant."
"The effort to replace the defense minister, who has so far refrained from acting against Hezbollah, aims to make it clear to Galant that if he does not side with Netanyahu, he will find himself out," the source said.
Introduction to the invasion of southern Lebanon
In the same context, two military experts who spoke to Al Jazeera expected that Israel's targeting of communications devices in Lebanon would be a prelude to invading southern Lebanon.
For his part, military expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi believes that this explosion clearly indicates Israel's intention to invade southern Lebanon, because it targeted the communication element, which is a fundamental pillar of war.
Al-Falahi said that cutting off communication between the command and control system could lead to delaying many decisions that require speed, noting that the incident was "a security incident par excellence," especially since it targeted Hezbollah's communications system, which is completely separate from the rest of the Lebanese state institutions.
The same opinion was expressed by military expert Brigadier General Elias Hanna, who said that the timing of the bombing and the way it was carried out move the war to a new stage, because the bombing is completely different from the attacks that killed military leader Fouad Shukr or other leaders who were killed in incidents that specifically targeted them.
In Hanna's opinion, this explosion creates chaos within the party's command and control system, especially since it coincides with Netanyahu's preparations for escalation in Lebanon.
