Why were they killed?
The assassination of the American foreign activist of Turkish origin, Aysinur (Aisha) Eji, in the village of Beita, and the little girl Bana Amjad Bakr, 13 years old, in her home in the village of Qaryut, by the bullets of the occupation army, sheds light once again on the systematic and programmed Israeli crime against our Palestinian people and those who stand in solidarity with them, without differentiating between young or old, young man or woman, and the goal is motivated by killing and shedding Palestinian blood, within the framework of a continuous series of war of extermination, massacres and executions in every spot of Palestinian geography.
The killing of the foreign solidarity activist is a clear threatening message from the occupying state to anyone who tries to show solidarity with the justice of the Palestinian cause, to be targeted by deadly bullets from the occupation army to stifle and kill all voices calling for an end to the aggression and believing in the justice of our cause. This comes within the framework of the terror program whose roles are shared by the official occupation establishment and the settler gangs and militias to suppress every voice calling for the freedom of our people.
The foreign activist was killed while she was leading a peaceful solidarity campaign called (Fazaa) to support and assist the Palestinians and protect their lands and crops that are being violated by the army and settlers. The occupation killed her in cold blood in order to eliminate her humanitarian role and the role of all activists. Our memory takes us back to the year 2003 when the occupation killed the American activist Rachel Corrie in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, while she was acting in solidarity in an attempt to prevent the demolition of homes there.
It was not long before the martyrdom of the 13-year-old Bana Bakr in nearby Qaryut was announced due to the occupation’s use of live ammunition in another crime added to the series of genocide crimes against our people. While the world stands affected by the killing of six Israeli hostages, it is still silent about the massacres that killed more than 40,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, amidst complete Israeli disregard in an attempt to hide the suffering of the Palestinians and kill the dreams and aspirations of their children, while the killing of a young Israeli woman arouses international sympathy and solidarity from the world, compared to the martyrdom of a Palestinian teenager from Jabalia, as the matter here does not concern the world that uses double standards.
The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz commented on the transformation of the tragedy of the Israeli hostages into a global story, in contrast to the complete disregard for the fate of thousands of Palestinians who are being killed without guilt while they are still in the prime of their childhood, innocence and beauty, describing the matter as sick and immoral, and that it is considered a form of dehumanization without the slightest bit of respect for the victims, and even the children who were killed, displaced, orphaned or starved by Israel.
This is a repeated and renewed call to the international community, the United Nations, and all its political, humanitarian, human rights and judicial institutions, to act immediately and with practical steps to stop and repel the occupation, and to hold its extremist right-wing government accountable for its behavior that disregards all international laws, and a special call to the biased American administration that supports the crimes and massacres of the occupation against our Palestinian people to review its policies, and stand up to its responsibilities to compel Israel to stop its comprehensive aggression against our people.
We wonder for what crime the solidarity activist in Beita and the child in Qaryut were killed, and for what crime Israel kills thousands of innocent Palestinians... Aren't these crimes enough to stir the conscience of the world that is silent and silent about the crimes of the occupation and silent about the truth (a mute devil)?
