arab League Chief: Israel risks losing Egypt's role
Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressed that Egypt's role in defending Palestinian rights is clear, and that the attempt by the Prime Minister of the occupying state to launch accusations against it are nothing but smoke bombs launched to cover up his desire to prolong the war for political and personal reasons.
Aboul Gheit said in a press statement on Wednesday that the Israeli arguments have become exposed, and that Netanyahu does not want to reach a ceasefire agreement, and his people have become aware of this fact, adding that the rejection of the presence of Israeli forces in the Philadelphi Corridor is a clear Egyptian position, supported by the Arabs, and is based on the rejection of re-imposing the occupation on the Gaza Strip and its people, and it also has legal and political validity.
He added that Israel, with its recent positions, especially the lies launched by Netanyahu, risks losing Egypt's pivotal role in the region, calling on all international parties to exert pressure on Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible, to save lives and ward off the specter of dangerous regional escalation.
