Jordan's King warns against displacement of Palestinians from West Bank and Gaza

Jordan's King Abdullah II warned on Monday against Israel's attempts to displace Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

This came during a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, according to a statement by the Jordanian Royal Court.

The statement said that King Abdullah warned of "the repercussions of the continued Israeli attacks and aggression in the West Bank on the security and stability of the region."

He reiterated the "need to intensify efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and to increase relief aid to the Strip."

King Abdullah stressed "Jordan's rejection of any attempts to displace our Palestinian brothers in the West Bank and Gaza."

On Wednesday morning, the Israeli army announced the start of the largest military operation since 2002, in the cities and towns of the northern West Bank. Hours later, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz threatened to evacuate Jenin and Tulkarm, as happened in Gaza.

The Jordanian monarch stressed "the importance of working to find a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, Palestine and Israel."
