3 Israeli police officers killed in attack west of Hebron
Three Israeli police officers were killed Sunday morning in an armed attack at the Tarqumiya checkpoint, west of Hebron in the southern West Bank.
The Israeli ambulance service reported that two police and border guards were killed immediately and a third was seriously injured. The injured man later died of his wounds.
The Israeli army said that the car used in the attack was found empty after the perpetrators managed to withdraw.
The Israeli army added that it had sent reinforcements to the area and was besieging the town of Idhna (northwest of Hebron), as part of the search for the perpetrators of the armed attack.
The Israeli Army Radio also said that the army raided the town of Idhna, adjacent to the site of the attack, noting that the pursuit of the attackers is ongoing.
Palestinian sources reported that Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over the town of Tarqumiya and the surrounding areas northwest of Hebron, as part of a search for the perpetrators of the shooting.
For its part, Al-Aqsa TV said that large numbers of occupation forces stormed the town of Idhna after the shooting operation and the withdrawal of the perpetrators.
11 bullets
In the details of the operation, the Israeli radio Kan said that the perpetrators fired 11 bullets at the targeted car near the Tarqumiya checkpoint.
For its part, the Israeli Army Radio reported that the attackers opened fire from a distance of one kilometer from the Tarqumiya checkpoint.
The Tarqumiya attack comes two days after the double operation that took place around two settlements north of Hebron, which resulted in the injury of 3 Israelis, including the commander of the Etzion Brigade.
It also comes amid the ongoing Israeli attack on the northern West Bank for the fifth day, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 22 Palestinians, in addition to the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers in Jenin.
The Al-Qassam Brigades threatened a few days ago to intensify operations in the West Bank in response to the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.
