Israeli sources: Netanyahu is trying to undermine the negotiations
Israeli sources accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Tuesday evening, of seeking to undermine the ongoing contacts and negotiations.
The Hebrew Channel Kan quoted those sources as saying that Netanyahu knows that we are in a critical period in which we are working to find solutions to the Philadelphi Corridor and we are waiting for the next summit. He knows that there is progress, but he insists on issuing important statements that contradict what was agreed upon with the mediators.
Netanyahu's associates responded to these statements: If anyone on the negotiating team is not satisfied with the way the prime minister is conducting the talks, we welcome his withdrawal from the team.
Channel 13 reported that senior officials said: The upcoming summit in Cairo is in doubt and no progress is expected in it, and there is no progress that justifies holding it in the first place.
The channel indicated that the head of the negotiations file in the Israeli army, Nitzan Alon, did not join the delegation that headed to Cairo, under the pretext that there was no point in the delegation going due to Netanyahu’s lack of flexibility regarding the Philadelphi and Netzarim axes. He said: If there is no flexibility regarding the basic issue, we will not reach anything in Egypt.
