US-European statement calls on Iran to back down from its threats to attack the occupying entity
A joint US-European statement called on Iran on Monday to "step back" from its threats to attack the occupying entity.
The leaders expressed full support for ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, reach a ceasefire agreement and release detainees in Gaza.
The statement also said: "We called on Iran to step back from its continued threats to launch a military attack and discussed the serious consequences for regional security if such an attack were to be carried out."
The White House reported that US President Joe Biden discussed the situation in the Middle East and the ceasefire in Gaza with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Britain.
