UNRWA: 75,000 Palestinians in southern Gaza displaced in days

The Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said today, Sunday, that the past few days have witnessed the displacement of more than 75,000 citizens in the southwest of the Gaza Strip.

"The mass displacement of the Palestinian people continues without end," Lazzarini explained in a post on the X platform.

"In the past few days alone, more than 75,000 people have been displaced in southwest Gaza, and last night the Israeli authorities issued additional orders to force more people to flee again," he added.

The UNRWA Commissioner said that some of the displaced “are only able to carry their children with them, and some carry their entire lives in one small bag.”

He said the newly displaced "are going to shelters crowded with families, without specifying a specific location, and that they have lost everything and need everything."

This morning, the occupation forces expanded the forced evacuation orders in areas of Khan Yunis city in the southern Gaza Strip, and demanded that citizens and displaced persons in the Al-Jalaa neighborhood, known as Hamad City, north of Khan Yunis, evacuate immediately. They also renewed their demand for citizens in new neighborhoods in the center of Khan Yunis to evacuate them by force, and this time the order was given at one o'clock in the morning.

The Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression on the Gaza Strip by land, sea and air since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the death of 39,790 citizens and the injury of 91,702 others, while thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.
