Egyptian source denies the existence of operating tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip
An Egyptian source denied, on Monday, what is being circulated by Israeli media about the existence of operating tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
Al-Qahirah News Channel quoted a high-ranking Egyptian source as denying what is being circulated by Israeli media about the existence of operating tunnels between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, stressing that what is being circulated is Israel’s escape from its failure in the Strip, and that Israel’s failure to achieve an accomplishment in Gaza is pushing it to spread allegations about the existence of tunnels to justify its continued aggression against the Strip.
The source explained that Israel turns a blind eye to the smuggling of weapons from Israel to the West Bank in order to find a justification for seizing land and practicing more killing and genocide against the Palestinians.
He stressed that Israel did not provide evidence of the existence of operating tunnels on the borders of the Strip, stressing that it is exploiting the closed tunnels in Gaza to spread false claims to achieve political goals.
Egypt had confirmed to all parties its firm position that the Rafah land crossing would not be opened as long as Israeli control over the Palestinian side remained, holding the Israeli side responsible for the consequences of this closure and the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
Egypt's contacts with various parties - especially Israel, the United States of America, and Hamas - have not stopped to maintain the course of the ongoing negotiations and avoid escalation, and it is continuing this effort until the truce and ceasefire agreement becomes a reality on the ground.
The Israeli army announced yesterday, Sunday, as part of its military operations, that dozens of tunnel paths were found in the Philadelphi corridor located on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
The army's spokesman for the Arabic media, Avichay Adraee, said in a statement on the (X) platform that the army forces found dozens of underground tunnel paths in the Philadelphi Corridor area and destroyed them over the past months.
Since October 7, Israel has been waging a large-scale war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 39,000 Palestinians, in addition to massive destruction of homes and infrastructure and a humanitarian crisis, after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel that claimed the lives of more than 1,200 Israelis.
