Israel intends to deal a "painful blow" to Hezbollah "without getting involved in a large-scale war"

Israel is preparing to deliver a "severe blow" to Hezbollah in Lebanon while being careful not to "get dragged into a broad regional war," Israeli Army Radio reported on Sunday, citing Israeli government officials, after a rocket attack on the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights killed 12 children, despite Hezbollah's denial of responsibility for the bombing.

As security deliberations continue in preparation for the cabinet meeting scheduled for this evening, Army Radio reported that the military establishment in Israel has formulated a number of possible scenarios for an attack in Lebanon, which were presented to the political leadership during the situation assessment sessions held by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

She pointed out that the army's scenarios include "harsher and more powerful courses of action" compared to the attacks carried out by the occupation army against Hezbollah in the context of the escalating border confrontations that have been ongoing since October 8, against the backdrop of the war that Israel is waging on Gaza.

The report stated that "security officials are confirming to the political leadership that the plans in place can be implemented immediately and without delay." The occupation army had announced earlier today that the Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, held a meeting during which he approved military plans for the northern front, with the participation of the Deputy Chief of Staff, the Commander of the Northern Region, the Chief of Operations, the Commander of the Air Force, and other members of the General Staff.
