Netanyahu meets Biden on Thursday and Trump on Friday
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Joe Biden next Thursday, while he will meet former President Donald Trump on Friday.
A brief statement issued by Netanyahu's office announced that the Israeli Prime Minister "is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden on Thursday at the White House."
He stated that "the meeting is scheduled to take place at one o'clock in the afternoon, US time (eight o'clock in the evening, occupied Jerusalem time)."
Trump said that he would meet Netanyahu on Wednesday in Florida, and then said that he would meet him on Thursday, before confirming that the meeting would take place on Friday.
Earlier Tuesday, press reports stated that Israel had made commitments to the White House not to criticize US President Joe Biden and his administration during Netanyahu’s scheduled speech before the US Congress, tomorrow, Wednesday.
According to Israeli Channel 13, the Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, conveyed the Israeli “pledge” to the US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, during recent bilateral talks.
The report stated that Sullivan called several times over the past few days on behalf of President Biden, to ensure that Netanyahu had no intention of publicly attacking the Biden administration’s behavior before Congress.
American analysts confirm that American support for Israel will remain firm, and that the invitation was sent to Netanyahu with the aim of “demonstrating America’s solidarity with Israel.”
Although calls to end the war on Gaza have reached unprecedented levels in the United States in recent months, especially from protesting students at American universities and politicians from the left wing of the Democratic Party, this has not led to a change in the decision-making circle in the Democratic Party or convinced it to exert sufficient pressure. To end the war, according to what Agence France-Presse quoted analysts as saying.
