Biden addresses his people on Wednesday and meets with Netanyahu on Thursday

US President Joe Biden will address the nation from the Oval Office on Wednesday about what comes next after he withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.

“Tomorrow evening, at 8 p.m. ET, I will address the nation from the Oval Office about what lies ahead and how I will finish the job for the American people,” Biden said in a message posted Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter.

In a related issue, an American official said that President Joe Biden will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, a day after Netanyahu delivered his speech before the US Congress, both Senate and Representatives.

The meeting comes shortly after Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 race and amid protracted negotiations over a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Biden withdrew from the presidential race on Sunday after weeks of pressure from Democrats who fear he would lose to former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate.

Biden has been endorsed by Vice President Kamala Harris, who has announced that she will seek the Democratic Party's nomination for president. A USA TODAY tally of delegates shows the 59-year-old Harris has won enough support to become the party's nominee.

Harris' campaign has raised more than $100 million since Sunday.
