US-Israeli discussions address strategic security and cooperation

The Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Michael Corella, discussed with the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces, Herzi Halevy, issues of strategic security and cooperation, while conducting an assessment of the situation in the region.

The Israeli army said in a statement on Wednesday that Kurilla arrived in Israel this week on an official visit to the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Herzi Halevy, without specifying the date of his arrival.

He added: "During the visit, the Commander of Central Command and the Chief of Staff held meetings and visited several units, where they met with other senior leaders in the Israeli army."

The army continued: “In addition, they conducted a joint assessment of the situation, in which they discussed issues of strategic security and cooperation in the region and the expansion of operational tools, within the framework of responding to the challenges in the Middle East in general.”

The Israeli army announced that it would continue to deepen the relationship with its American counterpart “out of a shared commitment to preserving regional security and the common interests of both armies,” as he put it.
